Save money and build your own boat from plans
or save time and money and build from one of our complete kits! Get
everything you need in one crate right to your door-
Our Guide model plans and new
Kingfisher kits contain over 90 pages of step by step
instructions, photos and drawings. This is a book on building the best driftboat out there. Here's what some customers
have to say:
"I want to thank you once again for the tremendous
support you showed me throughout my project. You couldn't have been more
helpful. I'll tell you, I've seen all the other websites and boats,
both wooden and fiberglass, and I have to say that you and the way you
present your business are by far the most professional. Not to mention
your product is the best..., even when I build it myself! As I
mentioned on the phone today, my buddy Kenny has owned and guided out of
every major brand of boat, including skiffs, and he is blown away by the
way this boat performs, not to mention looks-" - Keith - N.
Carolina
"I took my new skiff
out on the S. Fork of the Boise River on Tuesday afternoon. Here
are some pictures of the skiff and a fish I caught that day. Thank you
for all your help it rows so easy light and fast." - Tom -Idaho

Thanks for looking at our boats and
kits. Here at Montana Boatbuilders, we build only the best. We are the
only truly custom drift boat building company and as such we use the best
materials and strive for the finest quality in everything we
do. This means that we have limited capacity. Unlike mass produced
plastic boats we just can't churn out copy after copy. Rather each boat is
made to suit you, the owner, and this takes time. Quality is one of the
things we are most proud of and we won't scrimp on spending a little
extra time to make it right. What this means is that you may have to wait
for your custom boat. Usually we are about 6 months from order to
completion. Times will vary depending on model and options but we've made
our scheduling calendar public to help you understand the process and plan
for your dream boat.

The Kingfisher is a full 16' straight line hull with 17' side panels. With three pedestals, full length, straight rod holders and tons of dry storage it is the King of do-it-yourself drift boat kits.
Designed with the low rocker hull of our custom Recurve boat, the Kingfisher kit comes with all the precision pre-cut parts for the hull and interior, level floor and pedestals, full epoxy and fiberglass kit stainless fasteners, ash oars and oarlocks. You decide the optional seat type, plastic or wooden swivel kits; plastic or wooden hatch kits and traditional wood or honeycomb Kelvar bottom.

More
news: Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is building a drift boat this winter! With plans and kit materials donated by Montana Boatbuilders, as well as wood and other materials from Allied Veneers and System Three Resins,
US Distributing and Sawyer Oars, Walter Reed military veterans, our wounded
warriors, will be assembling a Freestone Skiff modified for the use of
wounded Veterans. The skiff will be built in donated space at the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Assembly began in early January, and the completed boat will be ready for dedication in April. For more information about this project, and to follow the progress, visit the Project Healing Waters blog.
